So you can't have relationships without FB? I find that hard to believe, we were managing it fine without FB.

It's nothing like that. It's the convenience that the platform provides that nobody seems to want to give up. FB definitely makes it much more easier to catch up with my peers compared to email/phone.

It's the the other way around. I'm not after the 24/7 connectedness, but rather for the on-demand information polling about some of my friend's status/life events. This includes messenger and instagram.
