Erm, the new bsdinstall menu is about as simple as they could get. You have the option how to use your disk, with an "Automate" option to let the installer do it for you. Then there are four sets of "packages" that you may want to have installed, and then some options to define the configuration of your keyboard, location, timezone, et cetera.

In all, I think the bsdinstall is really a big step forward for FreeBSD.
