The U.S. uses 7.3x as much electricity per capita.[1] It would be extremely difficult and costly to build the renewable infrastructure to replace what we have now. Sure, if you're in a warm climate and not used to consuming so much electricity, then renewables are great, but insisting that all developing economies use renewables, or imposing that cost on workers who haven't seen much wage growth in a while, you're asking for trouble. Solve the nuclear waste issue and we can really improve living conditions all over the world, while helping to prevent CAGW.
